Virginia Association for the Gifted
2016 – 2017 Grants for Innovative Ideas
The Virginia Association for the Gifted will present up to five “Grants for Innovative Ideas” this year, each in the amount of $500 to individuals or teams whose proposed projects support the goals of VAG and directly service gifted students. The grants are awarded annually by the VAG Scholarship and Awards Committee.
Grant applications are due by Friday, December 9, 2016.
Criteria for Successful Grant Applications:
The successful proposal includes an overview of the project, explaining its purpose, the audience it addresses, and how it will directly benefit gifted students;
The successful proposal includes a specific budget about how the requested funds will be used (printing costs, project supplies/materials). Please specify if other funding, grants, or in-kind donations will support the grant;
Grant recipients will be asked to share their project with the members of the organization. The successful proposal includes information about how the project will be showcased (by presenting at the VAG conference or by summarizing the project in a VAG newsletter);
The successful proposal includes a timeline of the proposed project, including beginning and ending dates and expected dates of implementation;
Grant recipients will be asked to submit a brief evaluation to VAG upon completion of the project. The successful proposal includes information and criteria for evaluating the project. (How will others know if the project was successful?)
Grant applicant must be a VAG member in good standing. No more than one grant is awarded to a single individual within a three year period.
Terms of the Grant:
Funds will be awarded to the grants winners by check, via their school . Acceptance of this grant implies that grant winners will expend all funds to support the proposed project. Any changes must be fully explained and described in the project evaluation report. Original copies of the receipts and/or invoices are to be submitted to VAG with a brief reflection report. Grant recipients are expected to share their project with VAG members through presentations at the annual conference/seminar and/or through a VAG newsletter article.
